I-Corded Cowl

This cowl is uber cool! From Vogue Knitting, this is a chance to perfect your i-cord technique! I made a cowl quite similar to this but with a French Knitter...ahh great minds think almost alike!

 MATERIALS

• 6 1≥oz/50g balls (each approx 65yd/60m) of Lana Grossa Alta Moda Seta (wool/silk/
 polyamide) in #008 green.
• Two size 9 (5.5mm) double-pointed needles (dpn) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Size I/9 (5.5mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle

SIZES
One size fits most

KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
• Circumference 34≤"/87.5cm at lower edge to 30"/76cm at top edge

GAUGE
6-st I-cord measures 2"/5cm around, and 20 rnds = 4"/10cm.
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
COWL

Work 10 lengths of I-cord as foll:
With 2 dpns cast on 6 sts. *Knit one row. Without turning work, slide the sts back to the opposite end of needle to work next row from RS. Pull yarn tightly from the end of the row.
Rep from * until cord is complete.
Make 1 cord in each of the following lengths:
30"/76cm
30 1/2"/77.5cm
31"/79cm
31 1/2"/80cm
32"/81cm
32 1/2"/82.5cm
33"/84cm
33 1/2"/85cm
34"/86cm
34 1/2"/87.5cm
When each length is finished, bind off.

FINISHING

Block gently, straightening out any roll in I-cord.
Sew cast-on end to bound-off end to form a circle.
Beg with largest circle and form a stack of these circles in decreasing order of size.
To stabilize the stack for sewing, place one dpn down through the seams of the circles taking care to
keep seams lined up.
With yarn needle, sew firmly through the seams to join circles.
Working from inside of stack with crochet hook, work 2 lines of chain st from bottom to top of stack
into the seam of each circle.
Remove dpn.
This is my version knitting with the French Knitter.
