Cabled Hat and Matching Gauntlets

This slouchy hat with matching gauntlets is da bomb! And the yarn is oh, so yummy! Here's the pattern for both!

• 2 balls Tahki Yarns TARA TWEED, 80%
wool, 20% nylon, (1.75oz/50g; 122yds/113m) in color #11 thistle tweed
• One pair size 7 (4.5mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• One size G-7 (4.5mm) crochet hook

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
1/2 RC: Slip next 2 sts to cn and hold in back, k1, k2 from cn.
2/2 LC: Slip next 2 sts to cn and hold in front, k2, k2 from cn.
2/2 RC: Slip next 2 sts to cn and hold in back, k2, k2 from cn.

Central Double Dec: (2 sts dec) Slip 2 sts together KNITWISE, knit 1 st, pass slipped stitches over.
K2tog: Knit 2 together (dec) – Knit 2 sts tog through the front loops.
M1: Make 1 (inc) – Lift strand between needles to LH needle and work strand through the back loop, twisting it to prevent a hole.
M1p: Make 1 purlwise (inc) – Insert LH needle under loop 2 rows below last stitch worked, insert RH needle purlwise in loop and purl.

Sew seam. Tie Top Knot into an overhand knot.

Headband
With RS facing and crochet hook, join yarn at Back seam and work 86 sc evenly spaced around, join with a slip st to first sc to join.
Work 3 more rnds in sc.
Fasten off.

Brim
Measure and mark 20 sc on either side of Back seam. Brim is worked on center 46 sc of Front.
With RS facing, join yarn in marked st and work 46 sc across.
Next Row Turn, sc2tog, [sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st] 7 times, sc2tog.
Next Row Turn, sc2tog, sc to last 2 sc, sc2tog.
Rep last row 3 more times.
