KNIT MEASUREMENTS
6½“/16.5cm tall x 31½“/80cm circumference (excluding fringe)

MATERIALS
2 balls Filatura Di Crosa COCCO 43% wool, 42% acrylic, 15% polyamide (1.75oz/50g; 18yds/16m) in color #02 charcoal (A)
1 ball COCCO in color #04 ebony (B)
1 ball COCCO in color #01 silver (C)
One pair #17 (12.75mm) needles
OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Yarn needle, to weave in ends

GAUGE
5.5 sts and 8 rows = 4"/10cm in Reverse
Stockinette Stitch
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

PATTERN STITCH
Reverse Stockinette Stitch (Rev St st)
Knit on WS, purl on RS.

NECKWARMER
With A, cast on 12 sts.
(RS) Purl one row.
(WS) Begin Rev St st, * k1-f/b, knit across to
last 2 sts, k2tog.
(RS) Purl 1 row.*
Repeat from * to * three times.
Leaving about 4-7" long tail for fringe, cut yarn 1" after next “bobble”.

NOTE: When cutting yarn at end of each color section or attaching new color to begin the next section, vary the length of the fringe
between 4” and 7” long. The yarn should be cut 1” below the “bobble”, so that the yarn end can be knotted close to the “bobble” to prevent fraying; the knot can then be hidden beneath the “bobble”.
Attach B, leaving tail for fringe, repeat from * to * 4 times.
Cut yarn, leaving tail for fringe.
Attach A, leaving tail for fringe, repeat from * to * 4 times.
Cut yarn leaving tail for fringe.
Attach C, leaving tail for fringe, repeat from * to * 4 times.
Cut yarn leaving tail for fringe.
Repeat from * to *, alternating colors A, B, A and C, until 12 stripes are worked (approx. 21" from beginning). Bind off all sts.

FINISHING
Sew ends of piece together to form a ring.
Weave in loose ends only.
Make a knot on the end of each fringe, just below the “bobble”, to prevent yarn from unraveling.

A Knitted Wonderland Art Project

The Blanton Musuem of Art on the UT campus in Austin, TX is sponsoring a knitted art project and will be covering 99 trees with knitted striped cozys on the Blanton concourse. Over 150 knitters are volunteering to "knit" a tree.

The exhibit will begin on March 5th-18th, 2011

My knitting partner, Ceci and I will be knitting Tree 59.

Soft and Casual Wristlets

These wristlets are your perfect Saturday partner. Throw on some jeans and go do your errands!

Materials
1 skein in Iris of Swoon by Fiesta Yarns, 4oz/113g skeins, each approx 225yd/206m (merino wool/silk)
One set (5) size 8 (5mm) double-pointed needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Stitch markers
Stitch holder

THE MEASUREMENTS
Circumference 6 1⁄2"/16.5cm
Length 6 1⁄2"/16.5cm
THE GAUGE
19 sts and 23 rnds to 4"/10cm over St st using size 8 (5mm) needles.
BE SURE TO GET THE GAUGE.

MAKE TWO WRISTLETS
Cast on 32 sts. Distribute evenly on 4 dpns, join for knitting in the round,
taking care not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd.

Rnds 1–12 *K2, p2; rep from * around.
Rnds 13 and 14 Knit.

Rnd 15 K3, pm, k2, pm, k to end of rnd.
Rnd 16 (inc) K3, sl m, M1, k to next marker, M1, sl m, k to end of rnd—34 sts.
Rnd 17 Knit around, slipping markers.
Rep last 2 rnds 5 times more—44 sts.
Next rnd (thumb opening) K3, remove marker, place next 14 sts on holder,
remove marker, cast on 2 sts, k to end—32 sts.
Work evenly in St st until piece measures 6"/15cm from beg.
Change to k2, p2 rib and work evenly for 1"/2.5cm.
Bind off loosely in rib.

Place 14 sts from holder on dpns to work in rnds and reattach yarn.
Rnd 1 Pick up and knit 4 sts along cast on edge, k14—18 sts.
Rnd 2 (dec) [K2tog] twice over the 4 cast-on sts, k14—16 sts.
Rnd 3 Knit.
Change to k2, p2 rib and work for 3 rnds. Bind off in rib.

You can never have enough wraps! And this pattern is soooo easy and quick!

• LION BRAND Microspun, Item. #910 (2.5oz balls):6 balls #194 Lime or colors of your choice
• Size 6 (4mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

GAUGE
22 sts and 26 rows = 4” with size 6 (4mm) knitting needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

SHAWL
[over a multiple of 18 sts + 6 extra]
Cast on 132 sts.
Row 1 (right side) Knit.
Row 2 K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 3 K3, *[k2tog] 3 times, [yo, k1] 6 times, [k2tog] 3 times; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 4 Knit.
Repeat rows 1-4 until piece measures 60” from beg. Bind off all sts. Weave in ends.

1 Artyarns Skein Silk Mohair
Approximate Size: 10 x 75in
Pair Size 13 Knitting Needles
Crochet hook for attaching the fringe

Notes:
*Fringe - see instructions at end of pattern - some people like to cut the fringe fi rst to ensure they have enough for entire scarf.
Abbreviations:
K1 - knit one stitch
YO (yarn over - yarn wraps over needle)
DYO (Double Yarn Over - yarn wraps over needle twice)
Preparation: Wind Silk Rhapsody glitter and Silk Mohair together to create your spectacular knitting yarn. The way to do it - wind each yarn into a ball, then wind the two balls together.
Because of yardage differences, you may have excess silk mohair!

Shawl Pattern:
Please see note on creating fringe first!
Cast on 28 Stitches
Create Shawl Edge
Row 1 - knit
Row 2 - knit
Row 3 - knit
Stair Chain Links Pattern
Row 4 - K1, DYO repeat until last stitch
Last stitch: K1
Repeat row 4 till you have approximately 75” of length. Cast off.

Use remaining yarn to create tie fringe*
cut 10 inch lengths of yarn and hand tie or crochet onto fi rst and last rows to create fringe.
