Short Hiatus...So Sorry!

Hi All,
I've taken a short haitus, moving to a new town, with a new job, hunting for living space...is taking up most of my time...

Bowtie Scarf

My new knitting project is the bowtie scarf. I'm knitting both sides at the same time to make sure the yarn lasts for each side. The pattern kit is from Knit One Crochet Too. Tying them together will make an interesting blend.

Classic Shawl with an Angle

This Berroco Pattern is a classic yet the angled edge makes it fresh. You may have to substitute yarns, check with your yarn shop.





One Size Fits All.

FINISHED SIZE
60" long x 20" wide.

MATERIALS
BERROCO MOHAIR CLASSIC (43 grs), 11 balls #B1136 (A).
BERROCO METALLIC FX (25 grs), 14 hanks #1003 Gold/Black (B).
29" length circular knitting needle, size 13 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
1 horn button #NPL179-68 from One World Button Supply Co.
1 St Marker.

GAUGE
16 sts = 5"; 4 rows = 1" in St st with A and B worked tog.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE 1
A and B are worked tog throughout.

NOTE 2
Shawl is worked as a tube and will be of double thickness.

SHAWL
With circular needle, using 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 128 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work even in St st (k EVERY round) until piece measures 56" from beg.
Buttonhole Round: K48, bind off next 5 sts, k until there are 22 sts on needle after bound-off sts, bind off next 5 sts, k to end. K the next round, cast on 5 sts over each group of sts bound off on previous round – 128 sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 60" from beg. Bind off all sts.

FINISHING
Lay shawl flat with buttonholes lined up. Steam lightly. Slip st edges of buttonholes tog, forming 1 buttonhole. Slip st open ends of shawl tog forming double-thick flat shawl. Wrap shawl around shoulders with buttonhole at right neck edge. Lap right top edge over left top edge, adjusting to fit. Mark placement of button. Sew on button.

MATERIALS
Stitch.Rock.Love. Sheep(ish) from Caron (70% Acrylic/30% Wool; 3oz/85g, 167yds/153m)
#0009 Espresso(ish), 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) skeins

One circular needle size U.S. 8 (5 mm), 32 "/40cm long
Yarn needle

GAUGE
In Stockinette stitch, 18 sts and 22 rows = 4”/10cm
STITCHES USED 2x2 rib (multiple of 4 + 2)
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * across.
Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 2x2 rib.

NOTES
Garment is worked flat on a circular needle to accommodate large number of
stitches.
Garment is a large rectangle with no shaping. Once folded, short seams form
armholes. Bottom edge (cast on) becomes lower hem, upper edge (bind off)
folds to become collar and front edges.

SHRUG
CO 134 (146, 154, 162, 170) sts. Work in 2x2 rib for 4” for lower hem.
Next row (RS): (K1, p1) twice, k to last 4 sts, (p1, k1) twice.

Next row: (P1, k1) twice, p to last 4 sts, (k1, p1) twice.
Rep these 2 rows for patt until piece measures 6 (7, 8, 9, 10)” from beg, ending
with a WS row.
Place marker at each edge for armhole seam.
Cont in patt until piece measures 14 (15, 16, 17, 18)” from beg, ending with a
WS row.
Place marker for foldline.
Cont in patt until piece measures 22 (23, 24, 25, 26)” from beg, ending with a
WS row.
Place marker at each edge for armhole seam.
Cont in patt until piece measures 24 (26, 28, 30, 32)” from beg, ending with a
WS row.
Work even 2x2 rib on all sts for 4” for collar. BO loosely in rib.

ASSEMBLY
Fold garment along foldline, with wrong sides together. Sew armhole seams
from lower hem ribbing to marker on each side. Using yarn needle, weave in all
ends.

To wear:
Open garment, folding bound off edge to form a wide collar around neck.

Cozy You, Cozy Your Coffee!

You've knitted scarves and cowls to keep you nice and cozy, now knit up a cup cozy to keep your coffee nice and hot! This Bernat pattern is quick and fun.



MEASUREMENTS
Approx 3½” [9 cm] long and 5”  [12.5 cm] diameter.

VERSION I
contrast A (03044 Sweatshirt) 1 ball
contrast B (03006 Canvas) 1 ball
contrast c (03436 Lava Wash) 1 ball

VERSION II
contrast A (03233 Acid Wash) 1 ball
contrast B (03006 Canvas) 1 ball
contrast c (03044 Sweatshirt) 1 ball

VERSION III
contrast A (03402 Skinny Pink) 1 ball
contrast B (03006 Canvas) 1 ball
contrast c (03044 Sweatshirt) 1 ball
Note: 1 ball each of A, B, and C will make 12 Cup Cozies.


Set of four size 5 mm (U.S. 8) double-pointed knitting
needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
18 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in stocking st.


INSTRUCTIONS
With A, cast on 36 sts. Divide sts evenly onto 3 needles. Join in
rnd, placing marker on first st.
1st rnd: *K2. P2. Rep from * around.
Rep last rnd of (K2. P2) ribbing for 2½" [6 cm].
With B, work 4 rnds in (K2. P1) ribbing.
With C, work 2 rnds in (K2. P1) ribbing.
Cast off in rib.

Warm Up to the New Year!

Sorry about the delay into the New Year, but I have been a bit busy getting a new job, moving to a new city and even getting a new haircut. So welcome 2012...it's gonna be a great year!
This scarf pattern from Filatura Di Crosa is all about the new yarn FELIX.

MATERIALS
3 balls Filatura Di Crosa FELIX 70% acrylic, 19% polyester, 11% polyamide (1.75oz/50g; 22yds/20m)
in color #08 taupe
One size 15 (10mm) circular needle, 40”/101.5 cm long OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Yarn needle

KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
5”/12.5 cm wide x 70”/178 cm long GAUGE
6 sts and 11 rows = 4”/10 cm in Garter stitch
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE NOTE Scarf is worked lengthwise back and forth in rows. The bind-offs and
cast-ons at the beginnings and ends of rows form the fringe on the Scarf ends. Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of stitches.
