Spring Beanie

Have fun knitting this lace beanie. Wear it with your new Boho look!


MATERIALS
Naturally Caron.com Country
75% Microdenier acrylic, 25% Merino wool; 3
oz/100 g, 185 yds/170 m ball): 3 oz
Shown in: #0021 Peacock, 3oz/85g
One circular size U.S. 5 (3.75 mm) needle, 16”/40.5cm long, or size to obtain gauge
One circular size U.S. 4 (3.5mm) needle, 16"/40.5cm long
One set of double pointed needles (dpn) size U.S. 5 (3.75 mm)
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Row counter (optional)



FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Hat measures approximately 15”/38cm circumference (unstretched)
GAUGE
In Basic Pattern using larger needles, 10 sts and 15 rows = 4"/10 cm


SPECIAL TERMS
k2tog (dec): Knit 2 sts together through the front loops.
M1: Make 1 (inc): Lift strand between needles to LH needle and work strand through the back loop, twisting it to prevent a hole
Chain Loop: Knit next st but do not drop st from LH needle, [yo on RH needle, pass st over] 5 times, knit through back in next LH needle st, pass RH needle st over.
NOTE
Place a marker (pm) at beginning of round, and move up each round.




HAT
Brim
Using smaller needle, CO 72 sts loosely.
Join, being careful not to twist sts; pm for beginning of rnd.
Rnds 1-6: [K1, p2, k1] 18 times.




Body
Change to larger needle.
Rnd 1: [K1, yo, k1, k2tog] 18 times.
Rnd 2: [K3, work chain loop] 18 times.
Rnd 3: K.
Rnds 3-36: Rep Rnds 1–3, 11 times more.




Shape Crown
Note: Change to dpns as needed.
Rnd 1: [*K1, yo, k1, k2tog; rep from * once more; k2, k2tog] 6 times--66 sts.
Rnd 2: [*K3, work chain loop; rep from * once more; k2, work chain loop] 6 times.
Rnd 3: [K9, k2tog] 6 times--60 sts.
Rnd 4: [*K1, yo, k1, k2tog; rep from * once more; k2] 6 times.
Rnd 5: [*K3, work chain loop; rep from * once more; k1, work chain loop] 6 times.
Rnd 6: [K8, k2tog] 6 times--54 sts.
Rnd 7: [K1, yo, k1, k2tog, k1, yo, k1, k3tog] 6 times--48 sts.
Rnd 8: [*K3, work chain loop] 12 times.
Rnd 9: [K6, k2tog] 6 times--42 sts.
Rnd 10: [K1, yo, k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog] 6 times--36 sts.
Rnd 11: [*K3, work chain loop, k2tog] 6 times--30 sts.
Rnd 12: [K3, k2tog] 6 times--24 sts.
Rnd 13: K.
Cut yarn, leaving an 18" tail.




FINISHING
Thread yarn needle with tail, run tail through remaining sts; pull to gather top and fasten off securely.
Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
