Knit Ribbon Top and Scarf

This novelty yarn knits up fast and easy in this halter tank top.

SIZE
XS (S, M, L, XL)
Finished chest 32 (36, 40, 44, 48)”
Length 16¼ (17, 18¼, 19¾, 21¾)”
Scarf 6” x 40”
Note Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses.
When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. For ease in working, circle all numbers pertaining to your size.

MATERIALS
• LION BRAND Incredible Yarn

Top
3 (3, 4, 5, 5) balls #202 Blue Shades or color of your choice

Scarf
2 balls #202 Blue Shades or color of your choice
• size 10.5 (6.5 mm) knitting needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Small amount crochet thread for sewing top
• large-eyed, blunt needle

GAUGE
12 stitches + 20 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch (knit every row).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

NOTES
Top is worked from side-to-side. To make longer or shorter, cast on more or less stitches at beginning.

BACK
Cast on 28 (30, 32, 35, 38) stitches. Knit 6 (8, 8, 8, 10) rows.

Shape Armhole
Row 1 Knit 2, knit in front and back of next stitch, knit to end – 1 stitch increased. Mark this row as right side.
Row 2 Knit.
Repeat last 2 rows 4 (4, 5, 6, 7) more times – 33 (35, 38, 42, 46) stitches. On next right side row, cast on 16 (16, 17, 17, 19) stitches for armhole – 49 (51, 55, 59, 65) stitches.
Work even in garter stitch for 50 (56, 60, 66, 70) rows(approximately 10 (11, 12, 13, 14)”), ending with a wrong side row. Shape Armhole Bind off 16 (16, 17, 17, 19) stitches, knit to end – 33 (35, 38, 42, 46) stitches.
Next Row Knit.
Next Row Knit 2, knit 2 together, knit to end.
Repeat last 2 rows 4 (4, 5, 6, 7) more times – 28 (30, 32, 35, 38) stitches.
Knit 6 (8, 8, 8, 10) rows even. Bind off all stitches.

FRONT
Work as for Back.

FINISHING
Sew side seams using crochet thread. Sew 1 (1, 1½, 1½, 2)” at each shoulder for shoulder
seam.

SCARF
Cast on 20 stitches. Work in garter stitch for 8”.
Make Slit Knit 9, knit in front and back of next stitch; join 2nd ball of yarn and knit in front and back of next stitch, knit 9 – 11 stitches each side. Working both sides at same time, work in garter stitch for 3”.
Next Row Knit 9, knit 2 together; continuing with same yarn across other side, knit 2 together, knit 9 – 20 stitches. Cut yarn that is no longer being used.
Work even in garter stitch for 18”. Repeat slit as before, then work across all 20 stitches for 8”. Bind off.
