Ok, we're knitting potholders; how about a knitted plastic bag keeper to match those fabulous potholders.
(Picture has both versions- crochet & Knitted, pattern below is for knitted version)
SIZE: One Size
Finished circumference: 10 1/2 in. (27cm)
Finished Length: 15 1/2 in. (39.5cm)
MATERIALS
• 760-136 Lion Brand Lion Cotton Yarn: Clove 1 Ball (A)
• 760-159 Lion Brand Lion Cotton Yarn: Mustard 1 Ball (B)
• 760-146 Lion Brand Lion Cotton Yarn: Fuchsia 1 Ball (C)
• Double-Pointed Needles - Size 7
• Stitch Markers
• Large-Eye Blunt Needles
With double pointed needles (dpn) and C, cast on 15 sts. Place marker for beginning of rnd. Join by working the first
st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle, being careful not to twist sts.
Rnd 1: Knit
Rnd 2: Kfb into each st around – 30 sts.
Rnd 3: Knit.
Rnd 4: *K 1, kfb; rep from * around – 45 sts.
Rnd 5: Purl.
Rnd 6-15: Knit.
Change to B and k one rnd.
Change to A and work in St st worked in the rnd (k all rnds) until piece measures about 15 in. (38 cm) from beg.
Bind off 42 sts – 3 sts remain on needles.
Finishing
Attached I-Cord Border and Hanging Loop
Notes:
1.I-cord is attached to Keeper at the same time the cord is knit.
2.Cord is worked on 2 double-pointed needles (dpns).
Hanging Loop
Slip 3 remaining sts onto one double-pointed needle. **Do not turn work. Slide sts to other end of needle and k
across. Rep from * until cord measures about 7 in. (18 cm), then pick up a st along top edge of Keeper to join.
Edging
You will continue to work I-cord, attaching it to the Keeper as you go.
Work attached cord as follows: *insert needle through edge of Keeper, pick up one st and place onto dpn – 4 sts on
needle. Slide sts to other end of needle and k2, k2tog. Rep from * around edge of Keeper.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Draw tail through rem 3 sts, then use tail to sew end of cord to beg of cord.
Weave in ends.
