Mosaic Scarves for You and Him!

Last weekend I took a knitting class at Hill Country Weavers on Mosaic Knitting. What fun! So in honor of my fellow classmates, here is a great scarf pattern to continue on past that washcloth we made!

MATERIALS
Naturally Caron.com Country
75% Microdenier acrylic, 25% Merino wool; 3 oz/100 g, 185 yds/170 m ball):
Shown in (Hers): #09 Renaissance Rose (MC) and #08 Silver Service (CC), 1.5oz/43g each
Shown in (His): #17 Claret (MC) and #15 Deep Taupe (CC), 2.5oz/64g each
One pair size U.S. 8(5 mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge
Stitch markers
Yarn needle

SIZES: Hers (His)
KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
Width 6 (8)"/15 (20.5cm
Length 36 (42)"/91.5 (106.5)cm

GAUGE
In Mosaic pattern, 22sts and 32 rows = 4"/10 cm

STITCHES USED
Garter stitch (Garter st)

NOTES
On all RS rows, slip all slip stitches with yarn in back. On all WS rows, slip all slip stitches with yarn in front.
Slip all stitches as if to purl.
When changing colors at right edge on RS, bring new color up from under the previous color.

SCARF
Using MC, CO 35 (45) sts.
Row 1 and 2: Knit with MC.
Row 3 and 4: Change to CC, knit.
Rep Rows 1-3, 0 (1) times, ending with a WS row.
Place markers (pm) 1 (3) sts in from each edge and keep sts outside markers in garter st as est, changing colors according
to pattern st.

Row 1 (RS): With MC, k to marker, slip marker (sm), k2, *sl 1, k1; rep from * to 1 st before marker, k1, sm, k to end.
Row 2: K to marker, sm, k2, *(sl 1, p1) twice, sl 1, k1; rep from * to 1 st before marker, k1, sm, k to end.
Row 3: With CC, k to marker, sm, k3, *sl 1, k1, sl 1, k3; rep from * to marker, sm, k to end.
Row 4: K to marker, sm, k3, * sl 1, p1, sl 1, k3; rep from * to marker, sm, k to end.
Row 5: With MC, k to marker, sm, k4, *sl 1, k5; rep from * to 5 sts before marker, sl 1, k4, sm, k to end.

Rep Rows 1-20 until piece measures approx 36 (41)” from beg, ending with Row 20.
For Hers: Change to MC, k 1 row. BO in pattern
For His: Change to MC, k 2 rows. Change to CC, k 2 rows. Change to MC, k1 row. BO.

FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements.
Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
