Vintage Knitted Gloves

Knitting these gloves will make you want to pull out your old sled! The new Berroco yarns  and pattern make them warm and hip!

MATERIALS
1 Hank BERROCO VOYAGE (50 grs), #4014 Vista (MC)
1 Ball BERROCO NANUK (50 grs), #5426 Sedna (CC)
1 Set (4) double pointed knitting needles (dpn), size 10½ OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
2 Small pieces of waste yarn
1 St marker
2 St holders
Tapestry needle

18 sts = 4”; 26 rnds = 4” in St st with MC

RIGHT GLOVE
With dpn’s, using CC, cast on 28 sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) for 2”. Change to MC. Knit 1 rnd, inc 6 sts evenly spaced around – 34 sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 5½" from beg.
Thumb Opening: Using waste yarn, k6; sl these sts back onto LH needle and k them again with MC, then complete rnd. Work even until piece measures 7” from beg. Do Not break off yrn. Sl first 17 sts onto one holder and the second 17 sts onto another holder with one holder in front of the other and both holders facing your right.
Index Finger: K5 sts from front holder; sl first 5 sts from back holder to another dpn, then k these 5 sts – 10 sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles and join; work even for 2½".
Dec Rnd: * K2 tog, rep from * across – 5 sts. Break off yarn leaving a 6” long end. Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needles. Pull up tightly and secure. Fasten off.

Middle Finger: Join yarn and k5 sts from front holder; sl 4 sts from back holder to another dpn; k these 4 sts, then M1k – 10 sts. Work same as index finger for 3”. Complete same as index finger.
Ring finger: Join yarn and k4 sts from front holder, sl 4 sts from back holder onto another dpn; k these 4 sts, then M1k – 9 sts. Work same as index finger for 2¾".
Dec Rnd: K1, (k2 tog) 4 times – 5 sts. Complete same as index finger.
Little Finger: Join yarn and k3 sts from front holder, sl 4 sts from back holder onto another dpn; k these 4 sts, then M1k – 8 sts. Work same as index finger for 2¼". Complete same as index finger.
Thumb: Unravel waste yarn from 6 sts, slipping 6 sts of lower edge onto one dpn and 6 sts of upper edge onto another dpn – 12 sts. Divide sts onto 3 dpn’s. Join yarn at right end of opening as it faces you and work even for 2½". Complete same as index finger.

LEFT GLOVE
Work same as right glove until piece measures 5½" from beg.
Thumb Opening: K to last 6 sts; k these 6 sts with waste yarn, sl sts back to LH needle and k them again with MC. Work even until piece measures 7” from beg. DO NOT break off yarn. Sl first 17 sts onto one holder and second 17 sts onto another holder with one holder in front of the other and both holders facing
your right. Complete same as right glove.
