New Year's Eve Knitted Jewelry

MATERIALS
1 ball S. Charles Collezione
STELLA 74% silk, 26% lurex (0.88oz/25g; 76.5yds/70m) in color
#04 starry night (A) 1 ball S. Charles Collezione
CRYSTAL 85% polyester, 15% cotton (0.88oz/25g; 144yds/131m) in color #04 sunbeam (B)
One pair size 3 (3.25mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• One pair size 2 (2.75mm) needles

• Two toggle clasp sets

• Black thread

• Beading needle

• Yarn needle



KNITTED MEASUREMENTS

Necklace

⅝" x 16½"/1.5cm x 42cm
Bracelet
1¼" x 7"/3cm x 18cm

GAUGE 32 sts and 30 rows = 4"/10cm in Garter stitch using A and larger needles TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE
SPECIAL ABBREVIATION
K1-f/b: (RS)

Knit 1 front and back (inc) - Knit next st, then knit it tbl.

K2tog: Knit 2 together (dec) – Knit 2 sts tog through the front loops.


PATTERN STITCH

Garter stitch (Garter st) Knit all sts every rows.

 

NOTE: Slip the first stitch of each row knitwise to create a nice even edge.
ROSE
With A and smaller needles, cast on 40 sts.

Row 1 Change to B and knit.
Row 2 Knit.
Row 3 K1-f/b in each st – 80 sts. 
Row 4 K1-f/b in each st – 160 sts
Row 5 Knit.
Row 6 K1-f/b in each st – 320 sts.
Bind off all sts. Gather cast-on edge to give the shape of a rose and sew it tog with black thread.
NECKLACE
 
With A and larger needles, using a long-tail cast on, cast on 3 sts directly onto the clasp as follows: use the beading needle to thread the yarn through the hole of the clasp from back to front and cast on 1 st, tightening the yarn around the ring. Before casting on the next st, pull the short tail through the ring again from back to front and rep for the rem 2 sts.
Row 1 Knit.
Row 2 K1, k1-f/b, k1 – 4 sts.
Row 3 K1, k1-f/b, k2 – 5 sts.
Work even in Garter st, slipping the first st of each row, until Necklace measures 16¼" or desired length.
Dec Row 1 K1, k2tog, k2 – 4 sts rem.
Dec Row 2 K1, k2tog, k1 – 3 sts rem. 
 
Cut yarn leaving a 10" tail.

Bind off directly onto the other side of clasp as follows: thread tail onto beading needle and pull it through the loop of the clasp from back to front. Push clasp close to the st on needle and knit the st. * Making sure the clasp stays close to sts, pull tail through clasp again from back to front and knit the next st. Pass the 1st st on the RH needle over the 2nd st and off the needle to bind off. Rep from * until all sts are bound off.

Weave in tail.

Sew Rose to center of the Necklace with black thread. Weave in ends.



BRACELETWith larger needles and casting on sts directly onto the clasp as for Necklace, cast on 2 sts with A, 3 sts with B, then 2 more sts with A – 7 sts.
Work even in Garter st, slipping the first st of each row and twisting yarns tog at each color change, until Bracelet measures 6¾" or desired length.


Cut yarn leaving a 15" tail.

Bind off all sts directly onto the other side of clasp as for Necklace. Weave in ends.
