Slouchy Hats Are In for the Fall Season!

You will see a lot of the slouchy hat in the fall season. Here's an easy pattern to get you started...

SIZE: One Size
Finished Circumference About 19 in. (48.5 cm). Hat will stretch to fit a range of sizes.
Finished Length About 8 (10, 12) in. (20.5 (25.5, 30.5) cm)

• 822-174 Lion Brand Alpine Wool: Olive 1 Ball
• Double-Pointed Needles - Size 10
• Stitch Markers
• Large-Eye Blunt Needles
• Circular knitting needle size 10 (6 mm), 16 in. (40.5 cm) long

13 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

K2, p2 Rib (worked in the rnd)
Rnd 1: *K2, p2; rep from * around.
Rep Rnd 1 for K2, p2 Rib.

With circular needle, cast on 60 sts. Join, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of rnd. Work in K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 1 1/2 in. (3.5 cm) from beg. Change to St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) and work until piece measures 5 (7, 9) in. (12.5 (18, 23) cm) from beg.

Shape Crown
Note: Change to double pointed needles when you have too few sts to fit on circular needle.
Rnd 1: *K8, place a marker, k2tog; rep from * around – 54 sts rem at the end of this rnd. Note: Markers placed on
Rnd 1 are in addition to beg of rnd marker.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Rnd 3: *K to marker, slip marker, k2tog; rep from * around.
Rnd 4: Knit.
Rep last 2 rnds until 12 sts rem.
Next Rnd: (K2tog) around – 6 sts rem at the end of this rnd.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail into large-eyed blunt needle and then through sts of last rnd (removing double pointed needles) and pull to gather. Knot securely.

Weave in ends.
